探究點二: Language points
1. This is probably because North American manners and Chinese manners are so different.
句中的because North American ...是表語從句,用在系詞be后作表語,注意要使用陳述語 序。
e.g.

2. If someone praises you and says that your English is excellent, you should be modest and say,
"No, no. My English is still poor."

praise作動伺的用法:
praise+n./pron .稱贊
e.g.

praise sb. for sth.因某事贊揚某人
e.g.

praise作名詞的用法:
praise表示對人或事物的“稱贊;贊揚”時,通常為不可數(shù)名詞;也可用praises的形式,但 較少見。
e.g. He wonfor his modesty.
他因自己的謙虛贏得了贊揚。

e.g. She wrote poems in of freedom.
她寫詩謳歌自由。

private作形容詞,意為“私有的、民營的、個人的”,在句中作定語或表語。
e.g.
Her brother works in acompany.

【拓展】
privately是副詞形式,意為“個人地、私自地”,在句中作狀語。
e.g.
She waseducated at schools in London and Paris.
她在倫敦和巴黎的學校接受過私立教育。
4. In both China and North America, it is polite to offer an elderly person a seat on the bus.
both - and…意為"……和……都”,這是等立連詞,可以連接句中句子成分相同的詞 語,如果連接主語時,謂語動詞要用復數(shù)形式。
