Jerry Brown on Tuesday signed a law for driverless cars to travel on public roadways, showing once again that Left Coast has a way of making car-makers develop faster. It is not that smart minds in Japan and Germany aren’t already working on driverless cars. But with most new technologies, engineers want to make sure that they are safe enough before large production. The California law will allow them to travel on the state’s roadways if there is an experienced driver sitting in the driving seat to take over if needed. “Today, we’re looking at science fiction becoming tomorrow’s reality,” Gov. Brown said during a news conference at Google’s headquarters. “This driverless car is another step forward in this long march of California and leading not just the country, but the whole world.” The state often uses stricter laws to control greenhouse gases and global warming, which was strongly against by most car-makers in other states, saying it would be impractical for each state to make its own fuel standards. However, the U.S. EPA(環(huán)境保護(hù)署) sided with California . At last all sides reached an agreement, but the push from California undoubtedly influenced the EPA’s sharply higher fuel standards, which require car-makers to achieve an average of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025. When it comes to driverless cars, California is actually the third state to authorize(批準(zhǔn)) them, behind Nevada and Florida. But by far it is the most influential. “It’s meaningful because California is a big state , a first mover and really a big player,” Ryan Calo, a law professor at the University of Washington who studies autonomous transport law, told the New York Times. 26 . The sentence“California, of course , has led the way towards cleaner transport.”is the topic sentence of _________. A.Paragraph 2 B.Paragraph 3 C.Paragraph 4 D.Paragraph 5 27 . A.engineers in other countries aren’t working on driverless cars B.California and the EPA reached an agreement on fuel standards C.the developing of driverless cars in California will lead the world D.California is the first state that allows driverless cars to travel on roads I went to technology____where people were showing their ideas for better learning. At the show I got a chance to try out lots of new, interesting equipment that might be introduced to schools. I thought some of it were great and would make learning more fun. Cyber Coach Mat The first thing I tried was the Cyber Coach Mat. This allows children to learn things like yoga(瑜伽) and tai chi(太極拳) with virtual instructors(虛擬教練). Also you can play football or have dance battles on it. Sony PSP The second piece of equipment I tried was the Play Station Portable. or PSP. It lets you access(獲得) lots of education materials and helps learning in many ways. Its really fun and even has a built-in camera and video so you can have fun with friends. Lego NXT The final thing I tried was the Lego NXT. This involves(涉及) building a robot and programming it to follow instructions(指令). The robot can pick up sound waves which can then be sent to the computer or a phone. I would really like to do this kind of thing in my lesson! Overall the fair was great and I learn how to use a lot of things that I think could really help children to learn and have fun at the same time. An electric toothbrush senses how long and how well you brush, and it lets you track(跟蹤) your performance on your phone. The Kolibree toothbrush was exhibited at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. It senses how it is moved and can send the information to an Android phone or iPhone through a Bluetooth wireless(無(wú)線的) connection. The toothbrush will be able to teach you to brush right(dont forget the insides of the teeth!) and make sure youre brushing long enough. "Its kind of like having a dentist actually watch your brushing on a day-to-day basis," says Thomas Serval, the French inventor(發(fā)明家). The toothbrush will also be able to talk to other applications(設(shè)備) on your phone, so developers could, for example, create a game controlled by your toothbrush. You could score points for beating monsters among your teeth. "We try to make it smart and fun," Serval says. Serval says he got the idea by his experience as a father. He would come home from work and ask his kids if they had brushed their teeth. They said "yes," but Serval would find their toothbrush heads dry. He decided he needed a brush that really told him how well his children brushed. The company says the Kolibree will go on sale this summer, from $99 to $199, and the U.S. is the first target market. 34 . All the following statements are wrong EXCEPT_________.
